Potters Bar Swimming Club

Potters Bar Swimming Club is on the Up

Potters Bar Swimming Club has seen success, growth and improvements in recent years. We have about 250 members who swim regularly, from 5-year old learners through to teenagers reaching their peak performance and Masters swimmers who still win prizes.

The club meets at the Furzefield Centre in Potters Bar and at Queenswood School. Club trials for new swimmers are on Fridays at 7.15pm. We are also fortunate in receiving sponsorship from Buffera, Lidl and most recently from Third Eye Installation Systems which help us provide the extras for the swimmers.

Chief Coach Wray Shewell-Cooper recently commented: “All our swimmers are doing really well at the moment. It seems whenever they compete they improve on their previous times. There is a really exciting buzz about the club.”

We provide gala opportunities throughout the year in three swimming leagues and this year we are entering two teams to provide more swimmers with competitions. Many swimmers are also supported by the club in attending open meets at other clubs throughout the year and we run our own open meet in summer and club championships in autumn.

This year we will have a record number of swimmers qualifying to compete at the Herts County Championships, and a few of these are expected to qualify for Eastern Region Championships too.

Mums and dads have rediscovered the joys of competitive swimming. The Masters section swims up to 3 sessions per week and many compete at a number of galas throughout the year. All abilities catered for from “chuggers” to a world champion.

Please call Eleanor Burt on 01707 656397 to arrange a free trial.
We are interested to hear from swimmers of any age but in particular learners from 5 to 9 years.
